A little bit of it might have been that I remember hearing their music when I was very little, I was born in 1965, so they were still popular and still making new records until they broke up. Now I was aware of music but not so interested in it as I was later in life, so when I really started taking an interest in music at around age twelve or so, I was discovering a lot of music that was considered old but was new to me and eventually in the Eighties I focused on the Beatles. Also as I learned more and heard more I found out how much they did that no bands had done before, like it or not they were a major influence in music and they were good at what they did. This is all I can say, it's late at night.

I am not a huge fan but do recognize their contribution to the music scene. I read a lot of autobiographies from BARD and it seems that just about every musician whose autobiography I have read has praised the Beatles to the hilt and talked about how much they were influenced by their music.

I was born in ’64, so I vaguely remember some Beatles songs from when I was little. I think I remember us all going from New York to Minnesota and back when I was about three, and the song Hey Jude was always playing. Of course, I remember the ending back then better than anything else and didn’t realize it was Hey Jude until years later. I also remember my mother and I going places in the car and Let it Be was constantly playing. Obviously that had to have been around ’69 or so. When I was almost fourteen, I got really big into the sixties in all its musical iterations. The Beatles for me were a really big part of that. I loved all their phases, but I think I prefer their late-early phase the best; right around 1966 before they turned psychedelic. Favorite song is Nowhere Man. They all seemed to have made creditable careers after they broke up, but I always thought Ringo was the fool in the deck. John was definitely talented, but I always thought he got somewhat more notoriety than he deserved. Paul was probably the most talented; I loved Hands Across the Water, but I also thought he got into some pretty silly stuff in the mid-seventies. George was the most understated, or maybe underrated; I dunno. But he had a lot of talent and I wonder that he didn’t get the attention he should have. I loved that he did some stuff with Arlo Guthrie, Roy Orbison and Dylan in the late ‘80s. Got some airplay in the country charts even, which I thought was way cool. All in all, I’d assess them as the most innovative musical group of the past 50 years. But that’s a subjective opinion. I also wonder how many times Pete Best kicked his own ass over the years for not going along for the ride and letting Ringo beat his time as it were.

They were, with heavy emphasis on were, a good pop group, but I'm sick of hearing about them. Time to put the Beatles to bed.
